Abstract: |
The paper describes the development of science visualization system. Visualization is a very important part of any scientific research. The increasing complexity of scientific problems leads to the increasing requirements for visualization systems. Many problems now are so complex, that have to be sold on high-performance computers. Therefore, the client-server architecture is suggested for the visualization system. In this case the scientist will be able to get visual representation of data from the solver immediately.
To cover as many use-cases as possible, the visualization system is considered to be multi-platform: server should be able to run on desktop and high-performance computers (under UNIX-like operating systems); client should be able to run on desktop computers (under Windows, GNU / Linux and Mac OS X) as well as on mobile devices (smart-phones and tablets under iOS and Android).
To balance the loading of client and server, as well as to increase interactivity of the scene being rendered, the visualization process is heuristically distributed between client and server. The balancing is accomplished by server, it uses for that the data about performance of the client, each own loading and speed of connection.
Moreover, the proposed visualization system provides the ability to integrate with the solver, allowing the researcher to control the visualization and computation process via a single interface.
Additional features of the system are multi-scale visualization (switching levels of detail on the scene) and animation playback on managed speed. |
